Firebase

A short explanation of Firebase in our glossary

Firebase is a development platform on the Google Cloud Platform for building and hosting mobile and web apps. In addition to Android and iOS, it also supports web apps, Java, C++ and Unity. Using Firebase removes a lot of backend work, because it is hosted on the Google Cloud Platform and can therefore scale effortlessly. For this reason, Firebase is what's known as a "Backend as a Service" platform.
