Hybrid app
A short explanation of hybrid apps in our glossary
A hybrid app is a mix of various characteristics of native and web apps. Like a native app, a hybrid app is usually downloaded from an app store, installed and launched from the mobile device.
In its architecture, however, it already differs from a native app and essentially just opens a browser in which the web app runs. This browser is adapted so that the frame and menu are suppressed. For hybrid apps to be able to access the smartphone's hardware, it's important that the app is stored on the device and not loaded from a web server, as web apps are.
